#28: Work It
There’s so much to celebrate, today being Inauguration Day, and what better way to show it than to shake it? Dance party at my place courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Turner.
As some of you probably know, it’s sometimes said that Ike wrote the first Rock n’ Roll song ever way back in ’51 (called “Rocket 88”). Plus, he discovered Miss Anna Mae Bullock and gave her the material with which she became the one and only Tina Turner. Personal life aside, he’s one of the most prolific figures in American music and I love him to lil’ bits.
Clocking in at 2:18 in the above clip is one of my favorite dance party songs of all time, “Work Out Fine.” But because what I’ve got going on can hardly compare with what Tina’s got, you can usually find me practicing my backing Ikette routine up in the boudoir when nobody else is home. Some of the dance moves we see the girls doing so well here are the Pony, the Twist, the Mashed Potato, and the Monkey– oh yeah! Mmm hmm!
OK, back to the dancefloor (which extends from coast to coast and to all borders today)…
