#133: Painted Hills, High Desert

July 14, 2010

Last week I took a tour of the high desert and Painted Hills of central Oregon.  A desire to take a different route back to town had TT and me doing some serious off-roading in our Tic Tac sized red rent-a-car, which was a courageous shade of brown by the time we rolled back into Portland after dark.

As a wise man once told me outside of the Grand Canyon, “THE MAP LIESSS…”  Beautiful lies.

gah! these are stunning. i’m on a cross-country road trip right now and we drove right PAST the painted hills, which i’m now totally regretting. (we’re towing a 1978 scamp so we’ve been avoiding dirt roads.) gorgeous, gorgeous shots, especially that one of the paint’s walleye. just popped over here from emerson merrick’s…so delighted to find your refreshing blog! cheers.
