#141: Farm Foto

September 22, 2010

I joke that you “adopt” new family members everytime you pick up a cool old photo at a flea market or antique shop.  I liked this blurry one because of the boy in dirty, patched denim overalls and homegrown haircut looking like he’d rather be anywhere else in the world than posing for this photo.  And it looks like the girl on the far right may or may not be looking at the family cow, whose nose may or may not be peeking into the photo on the right edge.

Dated June 21, 1935 on the farm.

i think that the only one who looks happy happy and interested in taking the photo is the girl with the white apron.. the other one looks also a bit “uhmmmmm”

that’s such a wonderful way to think about old photos! i do wonder what that boy’s relationship to those girls is, though…the ladies look like high society in comparison.

The old photos are both so familiar and so impenetrable…

I love these old photos. There is such a story behind each one and I love your interpretation of this one. That is what makes it so much fun.

every time i see someone highlight just one old photo, it makes me want to unearth my troves of collected old photos and photo books and just start documenting.

    i agree, it’s a cow nose.
